Carbon Sink Example

This land area is former agricultural land that has great potential for successful forest growth. The area has forceful hay growth which prevents natural forest growth, and only a couple tough willow trees have succeeded in naturally entering the space. The land is owned by the city of Mikkeli and the forest wealth created by the project will benefit Mikkeli and its people.

Tree variety and permanence

The area was planted with Siberian Larch and Silver Birch and the project has an appointed permanence of at least 100 years.

Planting

Planting was executed in the spring of 2020.
